Part of the Project

Teacher training over the years (2010-2012) has been hands-on and engaging. Teachers have become familiar with the BCP training motto: "Show one, do one!"

Some comments from teachers after completing training in 2010:-

'We need to give them (the learners) an opportunity to teach us e.g. ask questions in order for you to know how much the kids know. By doing that you are engaging them (the learners)… you are giving them an opportunity to speak.'

'The Basic Concepts is a way to … help children and not teach them … so that they can think and know the meaning.'

'Definitely exceeded my expectations. I see that the BCP can have far reaching consequences if implemented optimally. We were told the how and why of implementation rather than the what.' (Metro Central, 2012)

Before the workshop I thought (that) I knew how to teach or introduce my lessons, but now I know that I was not doing justice to my learners. I took them for granted ... as if (they would) very easily understand my instructions.
